Osteoporosis Facts

Currently it is estimated that over 200 million people worldwide suffer from osteoporosis, (thinning and softening of bone).

One in three women and one in five men over the age of 50 will suffer a fracture due to osteoporosis.

DEXA (Bone Density Testing) is the most accurate way to screen for osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis Testing

Because treatments are available for osteoporosis, early detection with Bone Density testing is vital.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends Bone Density Tests for any woman age 65 or older and for men 70 or older.

Bone Density screening should start at menopause for women with increased risk factors and between 50 and 59 for men with increased risk factors.
